Week in Review: St. Jude Marathon and NaNoWriMo

This week both NaNoWriMo and the St. Jude Marathon happened, both are the culmination of a great deal of work. I’m pleased to say that my adorable husband had a great race. He’s trained for a year and I couldn’t be prouder. Here he is coming into the finish:

My own NaNoWriMo adventure is less inspiring, but I’m glad I did it. I didn’t write 50,000 words but I made more friends and my writing is getting better. This week I will finish the first three chapters to send to Eric Flint. I hope as well to write a short story and send it out.

Time for Gratitude!

Every week I experience things that make me better and that I’m grateful for. Some are books, podcasts, websites, or videos. Some are simple experiences. I share them here.

A Twitter thread by Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg on the story of Judith and Holofernes sent me on a very fruitful research journey. The end result is that I understand my Tzipporah character so much better. Also I now wonder whether Lois McMaster Bujold’s character Cordelia Vorkosigan was modeled after the character of Judith.
